Support Tabitha: One of Our Own Needs Our Help

Urgent help needed

Dear Bluff Park Women’s Rec League and Community,
We’ve always been a tight-knit group, and now we need to come together more than ever. One of our beloved members, Tabitha, has been diagnosed with Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma - Grade 4, and her cancer has progressed. She and her family are seeking second opinions and potential treatment options that will take her out of state, which brings added financial strain.
If you’d like to donate, there are two easy ways to contribute financially:

Tabitha has given so much to her students and to this community. Now, it’s our turn to show her the strength and support of the Bluff Park community. Every donation, big or small, will make a tremendous difference during this challenging time.
Thank you for your generosity and support.

With Gratitude,

Bluff Park Women’s Rec League

Bluff Park Women Expand Their Commitment to Community

Bluff Park Women’s Wiffleball and Kickball announce the formation of Bluff Park Women’s Rec League

Hoover, AL -  Bluff Park Women’s Wiffleball League is celebrating its fifth season along with a successful inaugural season of Kickball by forming an LLC, has applied for 501c3 status and is now known as Bluff Park Women’s Rec League (BPWRL).

“The spirit of Bluff Park has always been special but the women of these community leagues have truly brought to light its magic!  It is only natural to broaden our scope and form Bluff Park Women’s Rec League to make an even bigger impact on our community,” Sherrie Roberts, founder of the wiffleball league and Executive Director of BPWRL, said.

The purpose of Bluff Park Women's Rec League is to provide the women of Bluff Park a recreational sports league that is inclusive and empowering; provide opportunities to participate in a variety of sports, develop skills, and encourage a healthy lifestyle. We strive to help build confidence, community and meaningful connections through teamwork, respect, sportsmanship, and philanthropy.

The mission of Bluff Park Women’s Rec League is to build a solid community of women offering support and encouragement to one another and the community through sporting events and beyond. And most importantly, bear witness to the mission by contributing our resources to our Bluff Park community - namely our non-profit partners and underserved girls in need of support to further their future in sports.

Following a social media post in 2019 to gauge interest, Bluff Park Women’s Wiffleball came to fruition in just 48 days with nearly 75 women in partnership with the Children’s Fresh Air Farm. Entering 2023 with a successful inaugural Kickball season; the Wiffleball league now expanding to ten teams with 150 women; over $7000 in donations as well as gifts in kind; the creation of the Hoover Wiffle Crown; expansion into Pickleball; the stage is set to donate tens of thousands to our partnering non-profits and to underserved female athletes and sports outlets in our community.

The inaugural board members include: Sherrie Roberts, Executive Director; Katy Cairo, Vice-Chair; Rachael Taylor, Counsel; Sara Frances Simonetti, Treasurer; Kristin Mathis, Secretary; Libby Lee, Philanthropy Chair; Holly Black, Marketing Chair; Bethany Early, Events & Projects Chair; Amanda Burson, Sponsorship Chair; Rachel Baker, Member at Large; Tammy Prell, Pickleball Commissioner; Rachael Taylor, Kickball Commissioner,  Sherrie Roberts & Katy Cairo, Wiffleball Co-Commissioners
