The purpose of Bluff Park Women’s Rec League is to provide the women of Bluff Park a philanthropic sports league that is inclusive and empowering; provide opportunities to participate in a variety of sports and encourage a healthy lifestyle. We strive to build a spirit of giving in our community through teamwork, friendships, and philanthropy.

The mission of Bluff Park Women’s Rec League is to:

  • Foster a supportive community of women who uplift one another and contribute positively to Bluff Park through sports and beyond.

  • Invest resources in our community, supporting nonprofit partners and underserved young women in their pursuit of sports and educational opportunities.

The Bluff Park Women's Rec League (BPWRL) was initially sparked by a single social media post back in 2019 asking for interest in starting a wiffleball league, and the idea swiftly gained traction. Within just 48 days, this casual idea bloomed into a vibrant and thriving reality, supported by an incredible 75 women and the Children's Fresh Air Farm organization. Fast forward to 2023, and the league's first Kickball season proved to be a resounding success, energizing the participants and fueling their aspirations even further. Looking back on the remarkable growth in not only sports, but also opportunities for fellowship, is a testament to the dedication and passion of the 150 remarkable women involved. This fervor has not gone unnoticed, as their efforts have been met with generous donations and thoughtful gifts, collectively adding up to a staggering sum of over $7000.

Among their remarkable accomplishments, the league has grown in not only the number of women who can join but also the number of sports encompassed by the league, and we are not done growing! As if that wasn't enough, our ambition soared to even greater heights, activated the league of over 200 women who are active members from the Bluff Park community. After our first year fundraising we awarded two college scholarships for the 2024/2025 year for young women starting off their freshman year at universities. We also were able to award scholarships for playing rec league softball U8-U10 for all fess, equipment, and clothing needed for a season and we sent children to attend the Hoover Rec Center summer camps for the summer break. Partnering with our sport’s property owners, we are able to make donations and support their needs and philanthropic efforts.

We support our members during hard times and consistently create an environment that lifts up women by providing opportunities of leadership, recreation fun, and a place where neighbors become friends.

The Bluff Park Women's Rec League doesn't solely excel in sports; they possess a deep-rooted sense of giving back to the community that has embraced and supported them and plan to continue to expand the impact we make in our community and surrounding areas. With the noble goal of assisting non-profit organizations and underserved female athletes, the league intends to make a substantial impact by donating tens of thousands of dollars, promising a brighter future for all.

As the league continues to thrive and surpass expectations, it's clear that Bluff Park Women's Rec League is far more than just a sports league - it's a vibrant community, a force of change and opportunities, and a beacon of inspiration for all women in our area and beyond.
